Timberwolves Top Pelicans For Third Straight Win
The Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the host New Orleans Pelicans, 110-96, at Smoothie King Center on Monday evening.

The contest got out to a tight start as the Pelicans led, 29-28, after one quarter. However, the Timberwolves took over in the second, where they outscored the hosts by 17, to take a 16-point lead into the half. The Pelicans could not make up any ground in the third and saw the deficit grow to 20, heading into the final frame. They kept up the fight in the fourth, but it was not enough, as they fell short for their second straight loss, while this marks the third straight win for the Timberwolves.

Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 28 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block, in 35 minutes. Anthony Edwards followed up with 18 points, seven rebounds, three steals and a block, while Jared Vanderbilt totaled 16 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. The Timberwolves shot 40 percent from the field, including 10-of-44 from deep.

Meanwhile, Willy Hernangomez led the Pelicans with 19 points, 11 rebounds and a steal, in 22 minutes off the bench. Nickeil Alexander-Walker followed up with 14 points, five rebounds and three assists, while Josh Hart and Jonas Valanciunas chipped in 13 points each. The Pelicans shot 42 percent from the field, including 6-of-32 from long range.

The Pelicans (3-16) will look to bounce back as they play host to the Wizards on Wednesday. The Timberwolves (8-9) play host to the Heat on Wednesday.
