Routed by Khalil Rountree
Smith lost to Khalil Rountree via TKO (punches) at 0:56 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Smith did the best he could, constantly trying to pressure Rountree in hopes of damaging his opponent, but he was unable to land any strikes with enough authority to get Rountree's respect. Anthony's best chance of winning this fight was to either fire off a ton of volume in hopes of tiring Khalil out, or to try to get his wrestling game going. He did neither. Instead, he engaged his opponent in a point-for-point kickboxing match -- a fight Smith had zero chance of winning. Anthony is 35 years old, has 56 pro fights under his belt and hasn't defeated anyone other than Ryan Spann since April 2021. He's had a great career, but the end is near.

Will take on Rountree
Smith will face Khalil Rountree at UFC Fight Night 233 on Dec. 9 in Las Vegas, Dana White reports.
ANALYSIS
Rountree was scheduled to fight Azamat Murzakanov in Austin, Texas on Dec. 2, but Murzakanov was forced to pull out due to pneumonia. In Smith's most recent fight, he broke a two-match losing streak by defeating Ryan Spann via split decision back in August.

Again bests Ryan Spann
Smith defeated Ryan Spann via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Singapore.
ANALYSIS
Smith submitted Spann in less than four minutes when these two fought the first time back in September 2021. It was a much different story this time around, although the result was the same. Smith started quickly, getting the better of Spann on the feet in Round 1 before the tide turned. Anthony absorbed a ton of damage in Round 2, with one eye nearly swollen shut due to the beating. The cageside doctor examined Smith prior to Round 3 and allowed him to continue. The two fought to even terms in the final frame, with two of the three judges feeling "Lionheart" deserved the victory. Now 35 years of age, Smith is 2-2 in his past four fights, with both of the wins coming over Spann.

Next fight scheduled
Smith will face Ryan Spann in a light heavyweight bout at a UFC event in Singapore on Aug. 26, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Smith will look to bounce back after dropping his last two fights, one to Johnny Walker and one to Magomed Ankalaev. The last fighter he beat was actually Spann back in 2021, when he disposed of him with a rear-naked choke in the first round. He'll hope to make it two in a row against Spann and return to his winning ways.

Can't solve Johnny Walker
Smith lost to Johnny Walker via unanimous decision (28-29, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC on ABC 4 on Saturday in Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
Nearly 35 years of age and with well over 50 professional fighters under his belt, Smith's lack of durability is starting to become a major issue. Facing a rare opponent in Walker than entered with a size advantage over him, Smith ate a boatload of leg kicks which left him hobbled the entire way. He got clipped by countless shots that didn't appear to be particularly damaging, but left Anthony in serious trouble regardless. Offensively, Smith was one-and-done in the rare instances he was able to get inside against Walker. Anthony has now lost back-to-back fights, although he won three straight prior, so his roster spot isn't in jeopardy. It's imperative, however, that the UFC is exceedingly careful regarding who they match "Lionheart" up against moving forward, as it's clear as day he is trending in the wrong direction at this stage of his career.
