Shawn Hutchinson is back to break down more trades in a whirlwind week, and he's also got suggestions for your roster that can help you navigate the tricky week ahead.
Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be done for season
Svechnikov, who is out with a lower-body injury, may be shelved for the remainder of the season, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Svechnikov missed the previous four games due to his lower-body problem and now faces the prospect of being out for the final nine contests as well. Prior to getting hurt, the Russian winger was stuck in a nine-game pointless streak during which he recorded just four shots. The 26-year-old Svechnikov will once again miss the 20-point threshold but could challenge for that mark next season.

While he's only 22 years old, Svechnikov is long in the tooth as far as prospects are concerned. The Red Wings, obviously smitten by the Russian winger's size and deft puck-handling ability, nabbed him with the 19th overall pick in the 2015 draft. Unfortunately, a neck issue foiled his bid to crack the Opening Night roster ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, and the Wings decided to
keep the power forward off game ice entirely after he tore the ACL in his right knee ahead of last season. Svechnikov is known for his competitiveness and rigid work ethic, which lends hope that he'll come back stronger than ever. A pivotal member of the AHL Griffins' Calder Cup-winning team in 2017, he's registered 74 points (27 goals, 47 assists) over 131 AHL contests, but now must beat out the likes of Filip Zadina and Michael Rasmussen to advance his NHL career.
