Porsche Penske Motorsport has claimed a historic victory in the 62nd Rolex 24 at Daytona, more than 20 years after the German manufacturer's last overall triumph in the Florida endurance classic. Nasr emerged ahead of Tom Blomqvist during the last round of pit stops following a final-hour full course caution for the No. 12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3, which caught fire, sportscar365.com reports.

After 23 hours of action it would come down to the last hour. A caution for the Vasser Sullivan car fire would kick open the door for Nasr and his co-pilots. They would take the lead and fend off a hotly contested challenge from Blomqvist and the Cadillac Racing team. The 2.1-second margin of victory was anything but comfortable. It was the first outright Rolex 24 victory for Porsche since 2003.
