Villeneuve has had to make an engine change for the Daytona 500 after it dropped a valve, Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports reports.

This guarantees that Villeueve will open the Daytona 500 at the rear of the field regardless of if any other cars are forced to head to the rear. His betting odds to win are already among the worst in the field, so starting last certainly won't do him any favors.

Team raced in two events last season (Daytona 500 & COTA). 2023 plans have not been announced. Would likely race a very limited, part-time schedule again.

Villeneuve has returned after a long NASCAR layoff to compete again in 2022. He joined upstart outfit, Team Hezeberg, to compete in the Daytona 500 and possibly some road course events this season.

Signed with Wing Nut Racing in February 2016 and will compete in the full Xfinity Series schedule with this new start up team.

Villeneuve is a free agent driver in 2013. He made two starts last season on the road courses with good results. He is one of the better road course ringers in the Nationwide Series.
