Young will no longer face Miranda Maverick at UFC 278 on Saturday after she was hospitalized due to illness, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.

Young was hospitalized just hours before weigh-ins after she reportedly started experiencing illness-like symptoms, presumably related to her weight cut. She'll no longer face Maverick on Saturday and will look to get healthy before returning to the Octagon. In Young's last appearance, she defeated Gina Mazany via TKO in April.

After coming up short in each of her first two UFC bouts, this was an unexpected victory for Young and one that certainly saved her job. Entering as a +170 underdog, Shanna accomplished little in the opening frame. Yet, while Mazany's cardio appeared to dip as Round 2 began, Young picked up the pace. She ended up in a dominant position following an exchange along the fence and after several unanswered blows, referee Jason Herzog had finally seen enough. Young's next challenge will be putting forth another strong effort her next time out.
