Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Vegas really threw us for a loop by starting Robin Lehner in Game 4. Then, Lehner threw us for a loop by making 27 saves on 28 shots in an overtime win to tie the series. Will the Golden Knights go back to Marc-Andre Fleury at home? Will Lehner get a second start? Needless to say, I am not going to select a Vegas goalie for DFS purposes Tuesday. I'm also not going to select Carey Price, because he's on the road against a team that scored 3.39 goals per game during the regular season. For Yahoo's single-game contests Tuesday you have $120 to spend on five players' salaries, including one captain worth 1.5 times the points. Here is who I have selected.

CAPTAIN

Max Pacioretty, VGK vs. MON ($34): Pacioretty was injured when the playoffs began, but since then he has at least one point in nine of his 11 postseason contests. Granted, those two games without a point were the first two of this series. That being said, he has an assist in each of his last two outings, and just as importantly he had five shots on net in each of those games as well. If you're shooting that much, goals often follow.

FLEX

Shea Theodore, VGK vs. MON ($24): Theodore had 42 points in 53 games this season, and 161 shots on net as well. While he had a tough stretch here in the playoffs, the 25-year-old has five points in his last five games. He also has 14 shots on net in that time. Also, Theodore averaged 3:04 per game on the power play this year, and the Canadiens had the 23rd-ranked penalty kill.

Alex Pietrangelo, VGK vs. MON ($23): Pietrangelo didn't have the regular season that Theodore did, but in the playoffs he has been fantastic. Not only does he have eight points in his last eight games, he's been incredibly active on both ends of the ice. The former Blue has 34 shots on net and 27 blocked shots in his last eight outings.

Tyler Toffoli, MON at VGK ($20): Toffoli had 28 goals in 52 games this season, but it may feel like he's been under the radar in the playoffs. That shouldn't be the case, as prior to the last two games he was on an eight-game point streak, with five goals in that time as well. He was Montreal's top scorer this year, and if the team is going to get a win on the road it will likely need Toffoli to step up once again.

Nick Suzuki, MON at VGK ($19): I'm ending with Toffoli's center on Montreal's second line and also its top power-play unit. The Habs' top line is more defensively focused, so this is actually the primary scoring line. While Toffoli didn't get on the board in Montreal in the last two games, Suzuki had an assist in both games. He also had seven shots on goal and had four blocked shots in Game 3.
