DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

DFS College Basketball: Monday Preview

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

Monday's DFS slate starts earlier than usual, as the matchup between Illinois and Purdue tips off at 12:00 p.m. ET. DraftKings has included five games on the slate, including three matchups that are conference games among Power Five teams. DraftKings features its $6K Big Jam, which pays out $2,000 to the winner.

Top Players

Trayce Jackson-Davis, F, Indiana ($9,400 DK)

Jackson-Davis has the second-highest salary on Monday's slate, but he's been quite consistent recently with double-doubles in each of the last three games. During Thursday's loss to Iowa, he was held under 10 field-goal attempts for the first time since late-November, but he still knocked down 75 percent of his shots en route to 18 points. Indiana has the second-highest expected total of any team on the slate, and Jackson-Davis should provide plenty of value against the Cornhuskers.

Trent Frazier, G, Illinois ($7,000 DK)

Frazier has unsurprisingly been overshadowed by Kofi Cockburn to begin the 2021-22 campaign, but the fifth-year player has been a fairly reliable fantasy contributor recently. He was held in check during the Fighting Illini's first game back on the court following their layoff of nearly two weeks, but he's returned to form across his last three appearances. Frazier has scored in double figures in four of the last five games and has averaged 16.6 points, 3.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 34.4 minutes per contest during that time. The matchup between Illinois and Purdue is expected to be the most competitive and highest-scoring game on the slate, so Frazier should have plenty of opportunities to provide DFS value.

Middle Tier

Prentiss Hubb, G, Notre Dame ($4,800 DK)

Hubb has been back in the starting lineup for each of the last seven games, and he's been a consistent fantasy performer during that time. While the redshirt junior is somewhat unreliable on the scoreboard, he generally has modest production in rebounds and assists, which gives him a fairly high fantasy floor. At his current salary, he would have provided at least 3.7x value in each of his last seven appearances. Notre Dame has the highest expected total of any team on Monday's DFS slate, and even though the Fighting Irish are heavy favorites over Howard, Hubb should have the chance to remain productive.

Elijah Hawkins, G, Howard ($4,700 DK)

Hawkins came off the bench Saturday and recorded a season-low 19.5 fantasy points on DraftKings, but that mark still would have been good for 4.1x value at his current salary. He's remained relatively productive from a fantasy standpoint despite shooting just 16.7 percent from the floor across the last two games. Howard has one of the lowest expected totals on Monday's slate, and the game isn't expected to be particularly competitive. However, Hawkins has proven that he's able to be productive regardless of his starting status or the final score.

Value Plays

Isaiah Kelly, F, Yale ($3,200 DK)

Kelly had limited shot volume during his final three appearances in December, but he attempted a season-high 11 shots as Yale returned to the court Saturday. The junior converted 72.7 percent of his attempts in the win over Cornell and posted a season-high 18 points as a result. While the Bulldogs aren't expected to score as many points against Brown on Monday, Kelly has the potential to provide DFS value at his low salary. He's posted double-digit fantasy points on DraftKings in 11 of 15 appearances this season and will attempt to stay hot Monday.

Matt Knowling, F, Yale ($3,000 DK)

Knowling hasn't been as productive as Kelly for most of the season, but he's joined the starting five in each of the last two games and has scored at least 20.5 fantasy points on DraftKings in each of those contests. He's shot 68.8 percent from the floor across those two appearances and finished with each of his two highest scoring totals of the season. It's not yet clear whether Knowling will maintain his starting status against Brown on Monday, but his recent results have likely earned him additional opportunities for Yale. At his minimal salary, he's a strong DFS play, particularly for managers hoping to load up on top-tier talent.

Parker Stewart, G/F, Indiana ($3,500 DK)

Stewart is a bonus value play Monday given his increased fantasy production across the last three games. The transfer from Tennessee-Martin has scored in double figures in each of his last two appearances while shooting 66.7 percent from the floor across that span. He's also posted at least 16.3 fantasy points on DraftKings in each of the last three games. While Stewart displayed inconsistency in December and early January, he's returned to form recently and has plenty of potential at his low salary Monday.
