Mondesi was acquired by the Red Sox from the Royals in January of 2023, but he never saw the field for Boston while recovering from the ACL surgery he underwent in March of 2022. The oft-injured infielder has played in just 50 games over the past three seasons and has topped 80 games just once since making his MLB debut in 2016.
