Can't keep ball in yard Saturday
Keller (0-2) took the loss Saturday as the White Sox were downed 6-1 by the Yankees, coughing up six runs (five earned) on seven hits -- including four home runs -- and a walk over four-plus innings. He struck out four.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander served up a pair of homers to Juan Soto in the first and fifth innings, with Jose Trevino and Giancarlo Stanton taking Keller deep in between. Troubles keeping the ball in the park are nothing new for Keller, as he got tagged for 35 home runs over 273.1 innings in 2021-22 while with the Royals. Keller's spot in the White Sox's rotation is by no means secure, but if he takes another turn at home next week against the Orioles, he'll carry a 4.86 ERA and 1.38 WHIP to the mound.

Could join big-league rotation
Keller is a candidate to join the big-league rotation Tuesday against the Royals, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Keller allowed two runs while striking out five batters over five innings Thursday for Triple-A Charlotte. This spot may eventually go to Mike Clevinger once he's ready in a couple weeks, but if Keller were to join the big-league rotation and hold his own, there'd probably still be a spot for him once Clevinger joins the mix.

2022
2021
2020
2019
Keller began 2022 as a starter, posting a 4.93 ERA and 1.43 WHIP over 122.1 innings across 22 starts before he was bumped from the rotation. Things didn't get better as a reliever, as he posted a 6.23 ERA and 2.02 WHIP over 17.1 relief appearances. At 27 years old, there's some pressure for Keller to find a role, or he'll soon be passed by prospects. He had solid numbers in his first three seasons, but he's been subpar over the last two years. The right-hander doesn't give up a ton of hard contact, but his three primary pitches -- slider, fastball, sinker -- have been far more hittable than Statcast projections would expect. He won't overwhelm many hitters with a 94 mph fastball. His fantasy value is linked to if he can bounce back to claim a spot in the rotation to begin 2023.
