Week 17 Observations

I'm sure I speak for many Giants fans when I say I didn't appreciate the indignity of rooting for the Lions today.

Fantasy Basketball's Surprise Starting Five

Rotowire NBA writer Bobby Colton takes a look at some of the surprise players over the first two months of the season.

Fantasy College Basketball Game of the Week: Washington at Connecticut

Perry Missner saw double Huskies in the game from Saturday.

Rotowire Injury Analysis: Fantasy Football Week 16

Week 16 Injury Analysis report is here although I am pretty sure most of your fantasy seasons have come to an end and a champion has been crowned.  However, there are some leagues that go until the very final week of the season although I personally am not a fan of these as it punishes teams who have players without a lot to play for in the final week.   This information instead may serve useful in any sports bets you may want to make or just simply for your interest in reading about sports injuries.

Matt Forte: Forte was forced out of last weekend’s game with yet another ankle injury.....

Week 16 Observations

The Giants played as badly in Baltimore as they did in Atlanta the previous week, to the point where one wonders why they bothered to make the trip. A forfeit would have been more dignified.

Fantasy College Basketball Game of the Week: Kansas at Ohio State

Perry Missner gives his thoughts about the Jayhawks win over Ohio State in Columbus.

A Look at the Lakers

Taking a look at the Lakers early-season struggles in reality and fantasy.

Rotowire Injury Analysis: Fantasy Football Week 15

Week 15 Injury Analysis is up and there’s not a lot of new injuries to discuss so I’m going to make this a “Reader’s Suggestion Issue” in which I’m going to let anyone make a comment regarding what player’s they would like updates on and I will be given quick responses so that you can hopefully use the information to take down the crown in our league.

There is just one player that I would like to discuss since I am from San Diego and it has been a rough past few years being a Chargers fan especially when the ownership decided in the last offseason that staying with Status Quo was the answer…..that didn’t seem to work out too well.

Ryan Mathews:  In last week’s game, Mathews was forced.....

Week 15 Observations

I really thought over 0.5 for the combined point totals of the Bucs, Giants and Chiefs was a lock. Seriously, how did the Saints OR Raiders, allowing 29 and 31 points per game, (30th and 32nd, respectively) shut an opponent out?

Fantasy College Basketball Game of the Week: Florida at Arizona

Perry Missner examines the biggest game of the weekend, which took place in Tuscon, AZ.

D-League Checkup: CDR, Varnado impressive through first month of season

Nick Whalen examines some of the NBA players and free agents who have made headlines in the D-League this season.

Rotowire Injury Analysis: Fantasy Football Week 14

Welcome to the Week 14 Injury Analysis.  I assume all leagues are either continuing or starting playoff games next week so it will be important to know what you should do about the few players that suffered more significant injuries in last weekend’s games.  As always, feel free to leave comments about players I did not discuss or if you have comments on my analysis.

Robert Griffin III: Last weekend it looked like RG3 had his season ended when his leg violently swung in the air after taking a big hit and surely appeared that he would have a significant knee injury.  Somehow he escaped with only an apparent Grade I LCL injury.  Most people are familiar with the MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury.....

Hot Stove Thoughts-Royals-Rays Deal

It's a deal that could change the focus of both franchises. The Royals and Rays shook things up.

Hot Stove Thoughts-Reds, Dbacks, Indians deal

I've been thinking about the recent flurry of baseball transactions and decided to put my thoughts in writing.

Week 14 Observations

Of course, I faded the Chargers this week, and of course they rolled in Pittsburgh. I'm playing checkers, and they're playing chess.

Fantasy College Basketball Game of the Week: Illinois at Gonzaga

Perry Missner takes a look at a fine non-conference game in a sea of blowouts.

Rotowire Injury Analysis: Fantasy Football Week 13

Welcome to the Week 13 Injury Analysis.  Last weekend did not have many significant injuries to discuss other than Jordy Nelson reaggravating his hamstring.  Therefore, I will dedicate the majority of this week’s analysis to some education about concussions....

Winter Meetings Notes, Day 3

A few notes from the final group of manager media sessions Wednesday...

Winter Meetings Notes, Day 2

A quick wrap-up of manager sessions from Tuesday.

Winter Meetings Notes, Day 1

In addition to the deals that were reached throughout the day Monday, a handful of managers met with media members for interviews. Here are some of the highlights from those sessions.

Week 13 Observations

Calvin Johnson had another 171 yards Sunday, and actually Matt Stafford missed him again on a deep ball after Johnson had gotten behind the defense. Johnson now has 1,428 receiving yards, a pace for 1,904. Jerry Rice's all-time record is 1848.

Fantasy College Basketball Game(s) of the Week: Adjusting for Pace

Perry Missner relates the experience of watching molasses drip (Tennessee vs. Georgetown) and a relative fire hose flow (Baylor vs. Kentucky).

My AL Tout Wars team
We did the AL Tout Wars draft Saturday morning, once again in "The Bubble" at the Sirius/XM studios. It was a different Tout experience than my usual drafts at Tout - lately I haven't paid for closers there, or spent much on my outfielders. But I'm also one to take the values where they fall. So to that end, here's my squad:

My "Beat Peter Schoenke" Draft Results.

My entry in the RotoWire Fantasy Baseball Online Championship was Monday night. Here's my quick take on the draft - this is a 12-team mixed league, 5x5 categories, 30 rosters spots (23 active), with no trades in the league. It has a top prize of $50,000 and a league prize of $1,400.
